The Media World in 5 Years

It's interesting to stop and think about the future evolution of the media world, the manner in which content is delivered, and the amount of time consumers spend interacting with social media. Consider the introduction of AOL to the public or even the expansion of the internet through the late 1990's. Such events served as a catalyst leading to a chain reaction and explosion of social media growth. The main social media network everyone thinks about is Facebook, and its ever reaching ability to connect its users through everything they do. Many of us might even find it difficult to think back to pre-Facebook and other social media platforms that were the precursors to the massive network.

As the reach of social media has expanded, so have the platforms from which we access the content. Cellphones, tablets, and all personal computing devices have been modified in their functionality to accommodate interaction with social media. These devices are allowing users to connect to their networks with the push of a button on their cellphone, something that wasn't even a thought approximately ten years ago. Mobile application development has even spurred a new industry that is expanding faster than most other traditional occupations. All of this is due to the expansion of social media and our desire to have access no matter where we might be.

With such growth and expansion of social media over just the past few years, it's tough to imagine how much it will change in the next five years. The growth of mobile media, such as tablets and cellphones, will expand at a rapid rate as more mobile applications are developed. The decline of print media will continue just as it has over the past decade. More people will become connected to the internet as the population grows and technology becomes even more accessible. Personal computing devices will continue to modify their functions to cater more towards users remaining connected to their social media networks. It will be interesting to see the social media timeline from 2010 through 2020 and witness all of the develops that are going to occur.

First COM3200 Blog Post

This is my first blog post for COM3200, well actually this is my first blog post in general. I'm greatly anticipating learning more about blogging, and become more active in doing so. I feel this is a great platform to show an aspect of your life to the world and let them discuss your life with you. Hopefully this will be a great experience and this is just one of many personal blogs to come!
